Concert director of Sofia Rotaru Sergei Lavrov reacted to the recent statement of music critic Sergei Sosedov. According to the expert, performers should give way to young talents on the stage, and Pugacheva, as he put it, generally "barely breathes".
Director Rotaru did not agree with such statements, he recalled that, for example, Enio Morricone "left the stage" several times, but from time to time gives concerts, regardless of his deeply advanced age.
"And when you see Pugacheva, you understand that she made the musical culture of our country. And Rotaru is the same unconditional superstar who has always gathered stadiums. To forbid these great women to sing is the same as taking Lenin out of the Mausoleum," Sergey Lavrov quotes. KP website.
He believes that both Pugacheva and Rotaru have long become symbols of the post-Soviet space and their age does not play a role; both adults and young people continue to listen to the songs of these performers.
