The Chilean Maria Alejandra Cuevas, the son of the famous actor Yevgeny Leonov, Andrei married before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Then marriages with foreigners were not welcomed, but, fortunately, this circumstance did not affect the careers of both Leonovs. In 1997, Alekhandra was offered a job in Sweden, and the woman left Russia, taking with her son Yevgeny Leonov Jr.

Chilean from RUDN University

Alejandra's father, a doctor by profession, never intended to leave his homeland. However, when Pinochet came to power in Chile, a doctor who was a supporter of former President Salvador Allende, who died in a coup, ended up behind bars. Death awaited Koevas. However, he was still not the last person in the country, so thanks to his connections, his family managed to escape from Chile and receive political asylum in Sweden. But Alejandra herself did not stay in Sweden. Soon she left for the Soviet Union, where she entered the medical faculty of the Peoples' Friendship University named after Patrice Lumumba. Andrei Leonov, although he was then studying at another university, namely the Shchukin School, was friends with students from RUDN. One fine day Alejandra and Andrey ended up in the same company. Despite the language barrier, young people started dating.

International family

When Andrei first brought Alejandra to his house, his parents were, to put it mildly, surprised. Then even contacts with citizens of foreign countries were not encouraged, what can we say about marriage. But the feelings between the lovers turned out to be so strong that Evgeny Pavlovich and Wanda Vladimirovna did not interfere with their communication. The only difficulty was that Sr. Leonov could not remember the name of his Chilean daughter-in-law, so he simply called her Sasha. Life went on as usual. After graduating from the Shchukin School, Andrei Leonov began performing on the same stage with his father, in the legendary Lenkom. And Alejandra got a job at the Morozov Children's Hospital. In 1987, the couple had a son. The boy was named after the famous grandfather Eugene. When the child turned 10, his mother was invited to work in Sweden. Andrei refused to go with his family. In Russia, he was already a rather popular actor, while the foreign land promised him nothing of the kind.

Moving to Sweden

For some time Alejandra and Andrei lived, as they say, in two countries: Koevas and his son regularly came to Moscow, and Leonov, in turn, visited Stockholm. But the distance, as one would expect, every year more and more alienated the spouses from each other. They both felt it. Therefore, when in 2008 Andrei met another woman, he did not hide anything from his official wife. Alejandra, without any scandals and clarification of the relationship, agreed to a divorce. Alejandra Koevas still lives in Sweden. Andrey's son Yevgeny Leonov Jr. lives there as well. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, graduated from a theater university in Stockholm and is currently working as an actor.
