The British Prince William and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, had a second son. This was announced on Twitter by the couple's official residence - Kensington Palace.

The boy, weighing 3.8 kilograms, was born on April 23 at St. Mary's Hospital in London, where his mother was taken early in the morning. He will carry the title of Prince of Cambridge and will take fifth place in line to the British throne after his grandfather, father, older brother and sister. Prince William was present at the birth.

This is the third child of the Duke and Duchess. William and Kate's firstborn, Prince George, was born in July 2013, and daughter Charlotte in May 2015. She was also due to be born on April 23rd, but the pregnancy lasted longer than planned. It was reported that doctors were considering stimulating labor.

The name of the child will be announced two days after his birth. According to British bookmakers, the most likely names are Albert, Arthur and Fred.

In 2013, the British Succession Act was amended so that boys no longer have an advantage over girls.

Thus, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge became the first girl in the British royal family to remain in line to the throne despite having a younger brother.
