Concert director of Sofia Rotaru in Russia Sergei Lavrov reacted to the persecution of the singer, reports "Interlocutor".

According to Lavrov, Rotaru did not go to Russia to record "Song of the Year" in 2018 due to the fact that martial law was introduced in the country and men were not released, and she has men in her team. Lavrov also noted that Rotaru sponsors not the Ukrainian army, but his relatives. “She has five brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren who need to be put on their feet. She bought a tractor for her brother last year. Then, where did she get the money? Do not forget that she is 72 years old,” he reminded.
He also said that Rotaru pays taxes for performances in Russia and maintains a house and a hotel with a restaurant in Crimea, providing jobs for Russians. “She doesn’t want to perform at all, I’m trying to persuade her,” he admitted.
Earlier, Sofia Rotaru was criticized for plans to take part in the recording of the "Song of the Year" concert and the "Retro FM Legends" festival in Russia. In 2018, Rotaru refused to tour in Russia due to the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, but did not make statements about relations between the two countries.
