Many people remember Alexander Rybak, a Belarusian boy with a violin who won the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow in 2009 with his own song “Fairytale”. True, he represented Norway, where he moved with his parents when he was five.

The country was more than ever proud of its young citizen from the USSR, because Alexander also set a historical record in points. And all this happened on the eve of Norway's main national holiday - Constitution Day.

The success was phenomenal: Rybak's song sounded in the top ten of all European charts, in many countries it took first place. And in Russia it has become multi-platinum: the fans have sold out 500 thousand copies.

The 23-year-old artist became snapped up - tight tours, music festivals, all kinds of TV shows, including in Russia. Among other things, Rybak recorded the Russian-language song "Superhero" for the fantastic action movie "Black Lightning" from producer Timur Bekmambetov.

They wrote about me a lot of dirt

In May 2020, Alexander Rybak will be 34 years old.

Russian is still native to him, so Sasha (as he calls himself) is especially close to numerous Russian-speaking fans in our country and throughout Europe. In social networks, he often leaves notes in Russian.

Alexander is also friends with many Russian stars.

But he does not favor the Russian press and show business in general, recalling how rumors about his unconventional orientation were launched.

“After my victory at Eurovision, a lot of dirt was written about me. About royalties, about alcohol, about what I once said "I'm gay" at a party. I think if I now make excuses, the same people will find new dirt about me. What to do, this is Russian show business ",

- Rybak said in an interview.

I am very lucky to be living in Norway

In his posts, Alexander calls Belarus "homeland" and often speaks there. But in Norwegian and English he confesses his love and devotion to his new homeland: “I am very lucky that I live in Norway. Constitution Day is my favorite day of the year."

Norwegians reciprocate. In 2018, unexpectedly and against all forecasts, Rybak was again chosen to participate in Eurovision. Before the start of the selection, his track "That’s How You Write A Song" did not cause much enthusiasm, but then broke into the top according to the results of the popular vote.

At Eurovision 2018, the singer also unexpectedly bypassed everyone in the semifinals (Russian contestant Yulia Samoilova then did not pass this stage at all). However, in the final he got only 15th place.

The musician himself is most proud of his recent success - the release of the musical "The Troll and the Magic Violin", which he began writing 8 years ago. The fisherman, of course, plays the main role in it.

I'm running out of breath

Meanwhile, only dedicated fans know that this favorite of the audience with a memorable smile has been suffering from severe mental problems for many years and cannot sleep well. He went through a number of clinics and takes special medications.

Alexander: “The feeling of complete happiness is such a rare moment for me. When there are no disturbing thoughts, when I am just happy and grateful for this life."

Another confession: “I am an introvert, and in an extreme manifestation. This means that the energy of the people around me acts on me, and if there are too many of them in a day, then I fizzle out and feel sick. So if you know someone who sits quietly in a corner, avoiding the spotlight, they don't have to be a freak. Perhaps a person simply does not have the strength to communicate."

Since 2016, his beloved Norwegian girl, whom Rybak met in Tinder, helped him cope with problems. However, the last joint photo on his instagram was a year ago (January 2019).

In the caption to this photo, the singer admitted: “I don't know if I'm capable of being a boyfriend. I'm afraid not. With my mental problems, I don't even know if I should be a father. But I know for sure: this girl reads my soul and makes me happy."

However, since then, there have been no more new pictures with the girl. Alexander Rybak celebrated New Year with his parents.

In a pre-New Year post, the singer wrote, among other things: “In 2019, several of my colleagues decided to stop living. Given my own problems, it made me wake up. So my first plan for 2020 will be the most difficult in my life: it has nothing to do with music, and I don't know how long it will take. Support me by remaining kind to each other and listening to my old and new songs."

We sincerely hope that Alexander will cope with his experiences.
